How to Register
Ready to fish the Spanish Fly Shark Tournament? Here’s everything you need to know to get your team signed up and on the water.
Step 1: Form Your Team

Each team may include up to 4 anglers (not including the captain).

Captains are permitted to fish but do not need to be USCG licensed.

Only registered anglers aboard the vessel may fish—no substitutions except for a non-fishing captain.
Step 2: Get Your Required Permits & Licenses

Every angler must have a valid Florida Saltwater Fishing License (if required).

All boats must carry a HMS Permit with Shark Endorsement (covers everyone on board).

Permits can be purchased at hmspermits.noaa.gov

HMS Permits must be presented at the mandatory captain’s meeting.

Step 3: Register Your Team Online

Create your team profile, add all anglers, and pay the entry fee.

Optional: Buy into the Calcutta for a chance at additional cash prizes (details announced at the captain’s meeting).
Step 4: Attend the Captain’s Meeting

All captains must attend the mandatory meeting prior to the tournament start.

Key identifiers and final instructions will be distributed.

HMS permits will be checked at this time.
Step 5: Tournament Days – Check In & Submit Catches

Lines in: 8:00 AM daily. Lines out: 4:00 PM daily.
Step 6: Celebrate at Awards
-
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners recognized in both Offshore and Inshore divisions.

Calcutta payouts announced (if entered).

Proceeds benefit the Jose Wejebe Spanish Fly Memorial Foundation.
